Jimmy and his team are excellent.
On the first day of August in Porto, sunrise is at 06:30 and sunset at 20:50.
August is the warmest month in Faro exhibiting average temperatures of 27.2°C (81°F) at the peak and 20.6°C (69.1°F) at the base. It is built on a steep hill, so getting around on foot and stairclimbing can be strenuous.
If you are going to the north or the mountains, take raingear or an umbrella. At Funchal, Madeira's capital with an international airport and an area of beach resorts, the sea averages about 23°C (73°F), and it might feel comfortable to you. There are nice local basking beaches such as Praia de Fuzelhas with golden sand and tidal pools to walk among.
The water temperature is almost at its warmest at 19°C (66°F) in August, but this feels chilly.
